Things That Make Your Day: The Elder Brother
No words can describe this...
The most heartwarming thing I've even seen pic.twitter.com/zRPd1RF7P2— Perfect Babies (@perfectbabies) September 1, 2017

Things that make your day: Vihart-The Mathematical Artist
[Things that make your day, as the name suggests are a series of short blogs that will be a celebration of hope, talent, love, beauty and life ]
Victoria Hart or Vi Hart describes herself as a 'professional mathemusician' who likes triangles! and APPLES!
I, in fact like her profession: mathe-musician. SWEET!
I stumbled upon her youtube channel and that made my day and I am sure will keep me happy for a long time. One of the most brilliant things I have ever seen. And that voice. And those plays with the words. And that voice again and that love potion called logic.
If you love mathematics or art or both, then these videos can drive you to an orgasm. Here are a few samples:

Madness - By The Conscientious Elder
![]() |
At times credited to Maurice Utrillo, This is taken from the movie “Modigliani” directed by Mick Davis 2004 |
Was mad to have loved You
Was mad to have let go my friends for You
Was mad to have let go my dreams for You
Was mad to have endured deep pain for You
And then after countless nights devoid of sleep
When no water was left in my eyes to weep
... I turned wise
Wise to love someone more beautiful than You
Wise to win back friends and not let them go.
Wise to find new dreams and pursue them
Wise to get over pain and discover life again.
In some private moments though,
when my wisdom leaves me alone
My heart takes over
Just to let me know
Maddest thing I have ever done
is to let that Madness go...

An Appeal For Prayas
[This message is copied verbatim from the appeal from the NITH literacy mission team. Spread the word. Help the cause - Note that today is Annual PRAYAS day]
We, the Literacy Mission team (NIT Hamirpur), hope that you are fine and are doing well at your respective places. We are pleased to inform you that with your consistent support and blessings, Literacy Mission is on the path of achieving its aim of building an educated society.
You would be delighted to know that this year Literacy Mission is going to organize ‘PRAYAS’–the annual cultural-cum-charity function of Literacy Mission–on 13th April 2013, Saturday (one day fest). The theme of PRAYAS-2013 is “PRAYAS-Ek Behtar Kal Ke Liye.” We will be greatly thankful to you if, out of your busy schedule, you can devote some of your precious time and grace us with your benignant presence on the day of Prayas-2013.
Literacy Mission–a small programme started by the students of NITH in 2004 with a philanthropic aim of educating the children of the nearby impoverished society; has now become a big well organized family consisting more than 100 volunteers and about 150 children .The team has left no stone unturned to help these poor children realize their dreams. These children are being given all the necessary things for their studies free of cost. Medical assistance is also provided to their families. The hard work of kids has really paid and the phenomenal success bears a testimony to this fact.
Some of the victories of kids are-
1. Lalita (5th class) has scored highest (95.5%) among eight schools (regional board) and she also cracked JNV (Javahar Navodaya Vidyalaya) entrance exam in 2010.
2. Mr. Joshi Sureen qualified AIEEE-2009 and is currently pursuing B. Tech from Maulana Abul Kalam Azad National Institute of Technology (NIT), Bhopal.
3. A student Mr. Bhupendra has cleared the Indian Air Force exam in 2009 and is presently posted in Assam.
4. A total of 3 students are presently studying at JNV.
5. Ms. Madhu got 84% and Mr. Chandan got 86.4% in their 10th boards exams (H.P Board).
6. Most of the children have been made computer literate.
Medical assistance has been provided to kids:-
1. Prince, whose parents are daily wage workers, had suffered a cardiac disorder at the age of four yrs. He was successfully operated at ESCORT Hospital, DELHI with timely effort and support of Literacy Mission.
2. Another child Arpita had suffered from multiple cysts in kidney when she was two yrs old got successfully operated at PGIMER, Chandigarh.
Literacy Mission is advancing forward in its endeavour and is being run with the efforts of more than 100 student volunteers.
We shall be obliged to provide you the expenditure detail (academics as well as others) that we’ve made throughout the recent year.

To meet this expenditure we organize PRAYAS in which students as well as faculty members of NITH make contributions. The funds collected during PRAYAS from college students (by selling tickets for this one day fest), and from Faculties (by means of donations) do not make the sufficient amount of funds for the year round activities of Literacy Mission, and so we seek a kind support from all the alumni of NITH in any way they can provide; be it financial, sponsoring kids in their education, etc. .
Literacy Mission maintains an SBI account where donation can be made, the account details of which are provided below.

When They Say That I Act
When they say that I act,
they know not I am (acting).
To reveal is not,
the point is to hide
The faces you see
are none but some masks
My skin's so tattooed
They don’t see the marks
(Luckily)
Some drops don’t fall
They are hinged to the brim
The chalice of lips
Spreads wide to contain
(I smile)
When they say that I act
They know not I am...
Deep Down Within
![]() |
You looked at me, but judged me not.
Your benign shadow, a relief it had brought
My laughter was raw, your smile was fresh.
The hold on my hand that won't let it go
A promise of life on moors and hills
A dream that we had seen by the oak
That whisper of hope, now no more exists
But deep down within, I know you are mine.
The twist was terse, the course bizarre.
I planned to turn, we came so far.
You strayed away, we grew apart
I believe no charm; I believe no chance
Nothing around tells me you will come
But I know the paths that move in the circles
And I know for sure they cross at some point
As deep down within, our fates are entwined.
As deep down within, our fates are entwined.
Deep down within, I know you are mine.
I wish you my love, I wish you my life
I give you my core, I give you my breath
If the winds could carry, they will carry my fumes
If the rains can channel, they will pour my tears
If the Sun can show, You will see patient eyes
If the stars could talk, You will hear my voice.
The call of the calm, The shriek of serene
Will tell you my words...
In stars I look, You are nowhere there
In wild I search, You are nowhere there
In heart I seek, I don't know if it's you
But deep down within, my soul is your shrine...
Deep down within, I know you are mine.

It's Time for New Dawn
Sleep: By Francine Chaderon; French Contemporary Artist |
My eyelids are heavy,
They're moist, they're glued.
A dream is surmounting
my tired conscience.
A caress, I need
some fingers through hair.
A kiss on my forehead,
some song from behind.
No questions on right,
no answers for wrong.
Put me to sleep,
Been awake for so long.
Just put me to sleep,
It's time for new dawn.
That dream has no sorrow
and nothing to lose.
Neither friends nor foes
only silence around...
No fears to bother,
No joy to chastise.
My dream has a peace
as pure as sunrise.
My wooden home
has no corners, no end;
Three feet below
and infinitely high
It rests away, Lord
from the world all alone!
Just put me to sleep
Free and Unknown..
Just put me to sleep
